Pros – Clearly this card has one of the lowest APR rate in the industry, Additional insurance protection on top of that provided by Visa on their most cards.

This card offers $500,000 travel accident coverage. You also get travel emergency service, roadside assistance and auto rental collision damage waiver free of cost with this card.

Cons – Very low reward and excellent credit requirement to get a hand on this card are two major drawbacks.

Additionally Iberiabank requires your employment verification and income verification as well. You should be with your current employer for at least 6 months prior to applying for this card.

We feel this card is useful when you need money for short-term. Instead of opening a new line of credit or in the worst case, instead of lining up at the cash loan/pay-day loan type of borrowers, It’s always better to get cash advance on this cash.

The low APR stands out for this card and if you’re not after pinching pennies of rewards, go for this card. Apply Now! All Visa card member benefits are yours to keep any way!

Lastly, the best way to handle any credit card is by paying off debt in full every month if you have to pay interest on the remaining balance otherwise.

Readers, what’s your opinion about this card? If you are a Iberiabank visa gold card holder I urge you to leave your feedback in the comments section.

Disney Premier Visa Card from Chase Review

I received the card offer though mail. Since I live in Florida, nit was making much sense to apply for this card since Disney world is just 3 hours drive from our home. I haven’t applied for this card yet. There are people living here who widely use Disney Visa Premier card for their Disney World vacation.

The USP of the card offer was a $200 Disney gift card on first use of the card. This is easy money without doubt. The card offers are revamped recently. Where credit requirement is now higher because of the introduction of higher reward points and upfront bonus.

On Disney website you’ll not get this $200 offer, rather you’ll get an offer of $100 Disney gift card on Premier version of the card.

Disney Visa Premier Chase

Salient features of Disney visa premier from Chase

Rewards – 2% rewards in Disney owned store purchases, and 1% reward in all other categories.Other discounts at Disney parks, restaurants and stores, plus other perks.

APR – 3.99% introductory APR for first 12 months and then 14.25%

Fee – $49 annual fee for the Disney premier visa card, if you want to avoid annual fee, there’s a Disney Rewards Visa card, which is fee free (Reward version of the card earns you only 1% cash back).

Vacation Financing – Get Special Vacation Financing on select Disney Resort packages and Disney cruise packages for up to $10,000 subjected to credit line approval. Honestly, this is nothing bu personal loan for vacation. Which is extremely dangerous and can bring financial downfall easily if you can’t pay in full immediately.

A $10,000 loan at $14% is going to drain a lot of money every month on interest alone. This special access loan shouldn’t be a driving factor for choosing your card.

Why this card is unique for Disney fans

Be the hero to your children, by giving them access to private meet ‘n’ greet event where kids can meet their favorite Disney characters in person.

  • Also, get 10% off on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at DisneyStore.com and Disney Store locations.
  • Receive 10% off on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at select locations at Walt Disney World® Resort and the Disneyland® Resort.
  • 20% off the non-discounted price of select guided tours at Walt Disney World® Resort and the Disneyland® Resort

And lastly, the bonus cash of $200 (for score 750+) or $100 (for score 700+) on your first card purchase is redeemable only at Disney branded stores.

Verdict on the Disney Premier Visa Card

Pros

  • Attractive rewards and perks.
  • Fun card for family and specially young ones.
  • Relatively low APR and high rewards, compared to other offers.
  • Visa and Chase card member benefits.

Cons

  • Makes more sense for Disney fans who travel to Disney location at least once a year.
  • Annual fee of $49
  • Excellent credit needed, the offer of $200 cash bonus is by invitation only and offer is extended to very high credit score holders.

As said above, the fee free version of Disney Card (Disney Reward Visa card from Chase) makes sense when your annual purchases on this card is less than $4,900 on Gas, Grocery and eating out.

If you have multiple reward cards, like me, you may not charge all the purchases on one card. In that scenario, you may not spend $4,900 on Disney premier card making $49 annual fee hard to recover through earned rewards. In the first year your fee will be recovered through the upfront cash bonus

The fee free version offers the same Disney fan benefits as the Premier version. As a wise decision maker, consider your options and try to maximize your money.

We give a rating of “Apply” if you are a die-hard Disney fan, else you can pass and concentrate on other general purpose reward cards with seasonal reward categories, where cyclical categories earn as much as 5% rewards for a particular quarter. Have a few such cards and earn 5% rewards year around.

Citi Thank you Prestige Card Review – Do you Need it?

Citi bank’s thank you prestige card is an elite class card. Same category as American Express Platinum card. Though not as much feature rich as that one.

Prestige has earned good to excellent ratings by many rating agencies. This card belongs to thank you program launched by Citi bank. This card gives good amount of reward points for flying and is extremely beneficial for frequent flyers traveling in first/business class.

Pors – The main benefit of this card is rewards. By these rewards you can save up to 15% on all flights, if tickets are booked from Citi’s travel service.  Also you will get one free domestic or international companion ticket. This is the unique selling point for this card.

Cons – You need to have excellent credit and have to shell out huge amount of money in annual fees.

So huge annual fee can be an issue for most.  Also Annual Percentage Rate for this card is average. Following are Citi Thank you Prestige card’s salient features.

Features in Citi Thank you Prestige Card

  • You will get 1 point for every 1$ you spent on purchase.
  • You will get 1.3 points on every 1$ you spent at drugstore, gas station and supermarket. This is 30 percent more than many other cards.
  • This is a charge card. That means you can spend any amount of money using this card. But you will have to pay all debates at the end of month.
  • There is no foreign transaction fee for this card.
  • Every year you will get one free domestic or international companion ticket.
  • If you have this card then you will get airport lounge access for two people along with you.
  • If you book tickets using this card then you will get 15% discount on ticket.
  • You will get automatic gold status in Hilton Honors program.
  • You will get personal concierge service.

This all was about rewards you will get with this card. Now let’s take a look at what you will have to pay to hold this card

  • Annual percentage rate is 15.24 percent.
  • Default rate is 29.99 percent.
  • Annual fee is $500. According to me this is really huge. Paying $500 per year could not be issue for some people but it is really very high for less or medium frequent travelers.
  • If you pay debates late, you will be charged up to $35.
  • Returned payment is up to $35.
  • Balance transfer fee is $5 to 3 percent.

Also other than these things you can earn one time points by creating your online account, for doing this you will get 300 points. Also if you sign up for paper less statement then you will get additional 300 points. You will get anniversary bonus points ranging from 1 percent to 5 percent.  This anniversary bonus points depends on time from which you are holding this card.

There is no limit on how much you can spend using this card, which naturally means that you can earn any number of points. And these points never expire, but for that you will have to do at least one purchase each year using this card. You can withdraw these reward points against many things like gifts, merchandise, travel etc.

So in overall, this card has some good points like

  • Good reward points on purchase at gas station, drugstore etc.
  • Many ways to redeem points.
  • Amazing travel packs.
  • The free companion ticket is an excellent gain, you can cover $200 -$300 from your annual fee with this ticket.
  • Airport lounge access for three people is another great benefit that you can enjoy with family or co-workers.

This card is good for those who do not mind to pay $500 annually or want elite traveling facilities. Also if you want to add an additional user in your card then you will have to pay additional $175 each year.

Verdict on Citi Thank you Prestige Card

If you are a common man, living on a budget, do not apply for the card. You can better use the $500 annual fee. If you are frequent flyer, you may consider this one but, do compare benefit programs of the competing cards.

Capital One Venture Reward Card Review

A few days ago we published a list of top three travel reward cards, Capital One Venture card came third there. This is one of the flagship card Capital One brought in the market. An excellent credit is needed to get your application approved. Do not apply if you don’t have good credit, otherwise your credit score may go down by a point of two because of hard-inquiry made as part of the application made.

Now about Capital One Venture credit card, you must have seen viking ads which loudly says about earning 2 miles per dollar spent. Even though it’s too good to be true, this is the fact. For every dollar you spend, you get 2 miles which is 0.02 cents. Getting 2% return in every purchase got to be a good deal.

  • There will be flexible redemption rewards.
  • There will be no back out rates.
  • There will be no expiry on miles.
  • There will be no limit on rewards.
  • Relatively the annual percent rate of this card is low.
  • Annual percent rate is 13.9 percent on purchase and balance transfers.
  • The penalty interest rate of this card is 29.4 percent.
  • This card is not available for people with low credits.

Following are the points that will give you information about the redeem rewards of the Capital One Venture Card-

  • Redeem rewards for gifts, cards, brand-names, merchandise, travel, etc.
  • The redemption rates for gifts, cards, merchandise, brand-name, travel, and more vary and can change without any notice.
  • This company allows you to redeem your miles for any of your travel expenses in two ways, the first one is by using your Capital One Venture Card to book your trip or journey online, or on the phone, or in-person; and the second way is by contacting Capital One Venture Reward Center (their call center).
  • You can also redeem your “miles” for gift cards and get the same value as you would if you used it for travel. For example, 20,000 points (which takes spending $10,000, but it’s money you would spend anyway) can get you a $200 gift card for Target, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s and other places.

The annual fees of this card is $ 59 which is comparatively same as compared to the other cards, and the best thing is that as mentioned above the annual fee of this card for the first year is waived-off. Also the annual percentage rate of this card is quite low which is beneficial for the buyer.

Should you apply for Capital one Venture Reward card?

Pros

  1. 2% rewards for every purchase

  3. No foreign transaction fee
  4. Introductory 10,000 bonus miles if you spend $1,000 in first three months, which is a good enough offer and surely take care of second and third year’s annual fee ($18 short to be precise)

Cons

  1. $59 annual fee is ideally avoidable
  2. you can’t redeem accumulated miles for business/first class travel
  3. No special category to earn more than 2% cash back like other reward cards
  4. If you miss a payment or go over your credit limit, your rate will jump to 29.4 percent with Venture Rewards. This rate could remain on the card indefinitely and could even affect other credit cards you carry, so we highly recommend making a plan to make your payments on time.

Overall if you travel outside country frequently on business, do apply for this card. The card is very similar to the Discover Escape card in terms of rewards rate and annual fee. There are other travel rewards cards that have better benefits compared to Capital one venture Reward card. When we talk about reward cards in general Chase Sapphire, Discover More and AMEX Platinum card are by far the best ones.

Lastly, the best way to handle any credit card is by paying off debt in full every month if you have to pay interest on the remaining balance otherwise.

The features mentioned about this card may change without any notice. You are advised to read offer documents before applying for this card.

Probably not, we published a list of best 3 travel rewards cards in 2012 last month. Southwest is not one of them.

Our rating

If you’re a frequent flier then Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus credit card can be a great way to earn travel rewards.

Apart from the initial bonus, this card has nothing great to offer. 15%+ APR rate along with $69 annual fee doesn’t meet our expectation. If you are not a frequent flier or don’t always travel with Southwest you can give this card a pass.

Earning only about 1% on everyday purchase is not lucrative enough to our opinion.

If you use southwest a lot, go ahead ans apply for Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus credit card.

Lastly, the best way to handle any credit card is by paying off debt in full every month , you have to pay interest on the remaining balance otherwise. That will negate all the card benefits you’ll receive.

3 Best Credit Cards For Cash Back in 2012

Cash back credit cards help earning a little extra while using the cards for regular purchases. Gradually the reward nature of cash back cards is changing. We are seeing diminishing rewards every year.

in 2012 most cash back credit cards are similar in nature, most of them offer 1% cash back on general purchases. A few cards offer larger cash back on specific categories. For me, I personally use Chase freedom, AMEX Blue Cash, Citi Platinum and Discover More cards. I use the card which gives maximum reward at the point of purchase.

In the crowd of almost-similar cards we really need to read fine print to gauge the better products. I try to keep my reviews up-to-date. if you feel they are outdated, write a comment below and I’ll take care of it promptly.

Here are the three best cash back reward cards.

Chase Freedom Visa Card

This card is from Chase Bank. This Chase Freedom Visa Card stands first because of one of the largest cash rewards currently. Though their annual percentage rate is higher than some competitors but they really give good cash back rewards.

  • 1% cash back on all purchases. This is same like all other cards.
  • 5% cash back for purchase of $1500 for 3 months.
  • After every 3 months you will get 5% cash back on one category.
  • Take advantage of 0% APR for first 15 months.
  • Earn up to 10% rewards through Chase ultimate rewards program.
  • There is no annual fee and rewards have no deadline.
  •  After 15 months they take 12.99 percent to 22.99 percent annual percentage rate.
  • There is 0% balance transfer offer for first 15 months.

Blue cash from American Express

American Express Blue cash has a revamped rewards structure which is as honest as you can get. Best Credit Cards for Balance Transfer in 2012

Credit card balance transfer means transferring money from one credit card of one bank to the credit card of another issuer.

This is not just a marketing trick from the issuers; it is profitable for customers too. Many issuers offer 0% introductory APR for balance transfers. For example Citi Platinum card, Discover More card etc offer 18 months of 0% APR on balance you transfer from other cards, that means for 18 month you are not charged any interest, basically making it a 0% interest loan for one and a half-year.

This transaction is fast, it is convenient and most important thing is this is very safe mode of transferring funds. You can pay even bills by transferring balance via credit card.

Whenever you transfer funds from one credit card to another, You are charged a fee for the transaction. This fee varies from card to card. While ranking the balance transfer cards we didn’t put any significant weightage on cards offering introductory 0% APR.

If you are looking to payoff your debt in two years at the most, go for the cards which offer 0% APR for longest duration.
