Personal relationships matter in product selling. Purchasing decisions are emotional. People buy from a person they feel connected to or buy a product they are connected to. If you are a company that sells direct online, then there isn’t a sales person to develop a relationship, only a product page. How do you elicit emotion to drive purchases and stop buyers from clicking away?

Product reviews give potential buyers the ability to emotionally connect with others who have purchased your product. Your customers become your sales force at the point of purchase.

It takes courage to hear what customers say and then act on it. Its normal to have less than 100% customer satisfaction. Not everybody can like your products. A negative review also scores high on authenticity.

Reviews act as something other than user generated content. Reviews create a security blanket that extends to the site. If your site features tough truths with the hard working comments you’ve included rectifying problems then your site will have more credibility.

Customers know mistakes happen. If your company looks at mistakes as learning opportunities, embraces mistkaes to find new ways to WOW customers then your customer service efforts will come through in reviews.

Saying, “customer service is important to us” means nothing. Businesses should practice good customer servicing. The reviews would automatically reflect that.

Independent third-party reviews are important for your business growth. And reviews are equally important for individual customers for the value of their money.
